About Rameswaram
Rameswaram is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Hinduism and one of the four Char Dham destinations. Located on Pamban Island (Rameswaram Island) in Tamil Nadu, it is connected to mainland India by the iconic Pamban Bridge β a feat of engineering and one of India's most photographed bridges.
The town is deeply connected to the Ramayana β it is believed that Lord Ram built a bridge (Ram Setu) from here to Lanka to rescue Sita. The Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, is the primary draw for pilgrims and is famous for its magnificent corridors and 22 sacred theerthams (holy wells).
